Get Motivated to Workout!

After COVID shut down the Cyclebar in Jacksonville that I absolutely loved ( Shout out! Woot Woot! ) I just wasn't getting a workout in, I was lost. My girl Megan was having amazing results with the Beachbody programs and loosing weight for her wedding. She signed me up and I began a program called Muscle Burns Fat Advanced ( MBFA ). The program offered a daily workout, meal guide, motivation, and It was just what I needed.


I finished that program and started a new one but that is when my gallbladder blew out. After surgery I totally fell off the wagon. I wasn't eating healthy, I wasn't exercising, I was barely getting any steps in. Now that I'm 3 months recovered I was feeling ready to start a new program but totally lacking the motivation to start.


Here's how I got motivated to start another program. I'm hoping these tips can help you too!

  • Open the app - This sounds simple, but literally just opening the app, signing in, and reacquainting myself with it, broke the ice.

  • Make Goals - I worked on my 2021 goals to help guide me with what I wanted to do. You can start off vague, but I would recommend getting more detailed later.

  • Talk about it - Tell your friends and family how your feeling. Tell them what your wanting to do and share your goals. They might offer you some really great suggestions, resources or even want to join you.

  • Envision - I started envisioning myself working out. When would you do your workouts? How long will they take? What program will you do? What clothes will you wear? What kinds of equipment will you use? Stuff like that.

  • Take measurements - This seems scary, but down the road you will want to see those numbers moving in the right direction.

Speaking of measurements.... mine were very eye opening. I knew I was getting squishy but now I know exactly how squishy I've gotten....

  • Arms - Stayed the same

  • Chest - Same

  • Hips - Same

  • Belly - Gained 8 whole inches! ( This is where I always gain my weight )

  • Thighs - 1" each

Overall gain in 3 months - 10 INCHES! WOW, not good but that's ok.

I did not weight myself because my battery is dead on my scale.


Armed with that new information I finally started another Beachbody program Wednesday night. I'm doing "Country Heat" which is a line dancing program. I figured I'd start here just to get moving and have a little fun. I cracked open my Alani Nu Galaxy Lemonade for the first time in a while, took a half scoop, went downstairs and did the workout! It went really great and I was surprised that I kept up. Overall I got my heart rate up and burnt 389 calories. It felt so good to get that first workout done.


Then came some bad news ... I got auras and a migraine soon after that first workout. I felt a little foggy yesterday but I still got my second workout done! I'm feeling motivated to get these workouts done and loose those post surgery inches! I'll be sure to keep you updated.
