Get Your Guest Room Ready - FREE Checklist

As a traveler, you have first hand experience of what a traveler expects from a hotel or rental stay. But what do travelers expect when visiting a friend and staying in a guest room? It's safe to say your ecxpectations aren't the same as if you were paying for your stay, but here are some tips to help you get your guest room ready to impress.

Not everyone has a guest room, and that's ok. As long as you have a designated space for your guest that offers some privacy, that is a great start! Make due with what you have. If your kids have to share a room for a couple of nights, or you have to move your computer out of your office for a couple of days. Get creative! The goal is to give your guest a private area. We currently have a comfortable blow up mattress that we set up in our office when we have visitors.

Get that Wifi password ready because your guest is going to need it. I like to print it out and put it in a nice frame so it can be easily spotted. Your guest is going to want to

Make sure you have a clean bathroom and nice pile of fresh towels waiting for your guest. I would recommend 2 towels per person, per night. If you can have some shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, extra toothbrushes, lotion and first aid kit available that would be even better! Put those items in a nice basket in their guest room or bathroom with a little "Help Yourself" note so they know it's for them.

The cleaner the better! Now is a great time to do a thorough cleaning in your guest area. If you are short on time, clean linens and a tidy floor are a must!

Last but not least, every traveler needs the fuel to explore! Whether or not you are planning big meals, or dining out with your guest. You will want to keep some snacks and water available in their room or common area.
