My living room was bugging the sh*t out of me! It was looking bad, sad and empty. Everyday I would walk by it and basically ignore it ( that is my favorite coping mechanism ). Well last weekend something changed inside of me. All of a sudden I started to feel inspired. I began moving things around, doing research and making a plan.
First stop, plant shopping. We had a beautiful corn plant in our old apartment named Fin and he made the apartment so bright and cheery. I was super sad we couldn't bring him with us and had to find him a new home. In the spirit of moving on, we headed to the Home Depot and wound up getting two new plants. Meet Mr. Porkey, the snake plant and our fig named Newton. Later in the week I found a faux fig plant at Home Goods and drug him home too... he doesn't have a name but I'm open to suggestions.
Next I got some couch foot grips because my couch was sliding all over the place on this laminate floor. I ordered these adhesive grips up from amazon and they work great! I honestly thought they would be lame, but I am pleasantly surprised. I turned the rug 90 degrees which flows better and seems much more inviting.
Next, I was looking for something to fill the empty space above the TV and hide the antenna a bit. After much Pinterest searching and consideration I decided on these African style weaved baskets. I found out pretty quickly that these baskets can be expensive. The set that caught my eye would have cost $350 and take over a month to get delivered. Ain't happening! I was able to mix and match some finds on Amazon to create my own set for over half the cost and got it in a couple of days.
The transformation is complete! Now when I walk through my living room I look around and take it all in. I really love the relaxed boho vibe going on in here. It is light and airy.
Here are a few more pictures of the living room area.
Looks great!
Thanks Megan!
I love how this room turned out!
The mirror is a perfect fit for above your bar cabinet. And the plants and baskets make it seem more put together. Love it!
