After a jam packed day exploring Big Sur Day One we were exhausted and ready to settle into our hotel for the night. Doug is a Marriott member and found a hotel in Pismo called Vespera on Ocean. He not only booked this little gem, but he was able to use his fancy shmancy reward program to upgrade. Can I get a WHAT WHAT!
First impressions
We pulled up to the rather small entrance and discovered that valet parking is mandatory and $35. Why? Because there isn't any other parking around... so whatever! I grabbed my stuff and headed to the lobby because the traffic was starting to back up behind us. Again, small entrance, small street and very busy little area!
The Lobby
The lobby also felt small but it was super cute. When we got to the counter we found out that our room wasn't ready yet. I decided to chill out near the fireplace and wait. I was kinda tired, kinda hungry, AKA getting grouchy. While I waited I decided to listen in on other peoples conversations like the nosy girl I am and discovered a couple things.
First, the girl at the front counter was a superstar! She was so kind, friendly, she handled everyone with grace, confidence and she was so cute. I wish I got her name.
Second, people are assh*les. I watched one woman complain to the superstar that her room was too ugly and she wanted an upgrade.. too bad! IT'S MINE! Another woman was being very loud on her phone complaining. Complainers everywhere! I decided to change my attitude, I didn't want to become one of these grouchy hotel ladies!
The Room
After a 15 minute wait we got our key and headed up to our room. Oh my goi! I loved this room! It was beyond my expectations. The bathroom was gorgeous with a walk in shower, dual sinks and toilet closet. The kitchen was complete with fridge, sink, microwave, dining table and dishwasher. The bed was big and comfy. The sitting area was cute but honestly we never ever used it because we spent most of our time on the balcony.
The Neighborhood
Once we checked out the room and put our bags down It was time to visit the next most important part of the hotel... the bar. We had a couple drinks and decided to take a walk down the boardwalk. This is when I started to understand why this little area is so busy. The beach is beautiful and there is a giant pier with food trucks on it.
The Balcony
After a short walk, we decided to head back to the bar and back to our wonderful balcony and watch the sun set. We sipped on drinks, ordered food, talked, listened to music and watched our very first west coast sunset. It was very relaxing and we were both in awe of how grateful we were to go on this trip and be in this moment. Looking back, last year sucked... and never in a million years could we have imagined that we would wind up here.
Overall, I had a great time and would totally stay in this hotel again. We enjoyed everything about it. I wish we could have stayed longer to check out everything Pismo Beach has to offer. We left early the next morning to head back to Big Sur for day two!
If you are ever in the area, check it out!
Omg that room is so freaking niiiiiice! You should just move in
