Monterey Marriott

When we decided to take a trip to Monterey Bay we never imagined our hotel stay would be so amazing! Doug is a Marriott member so we usually stay in one of their hotels when we travel. For this trip he requested an upgrade with his rewards and was approved. When we got to the hotel we knew we were getting an upgrade but not sure what our room would be like.

We pulled up to the Monterey Marriott on Friday evening and it was pretty busy but we were quickly greeted by the valet who was very nice and took our Jeep to be parked. We grabbed our bags and headed inside. I immediately noticed that it smelled very clean inside which was nice. It is a very spacious lobby area with tall ceilings, warm lights, and cozy masculine decor. We were then greeted by Mr. Butterfield ( I think that was his name ) who was an absolute pleasure. You could tell he genuinely enjoys his job. He was very friendly and offered us waters, told us about the area and we had a discussion about the local aquarium. He answered the phone, interacting with his co workers and helped us seamlessly. Probably the best multitasker I've ever seen because I felt he was giving us his full attention and care. I was so impressed with him.

He became even more awesome when he told us we were upgraded to the 2 story presidential suite! Excuse me, WHAT!? Ok so I tried to act cool but inside I was screaming with excitement. He said they were going to check the room and would be ready in about 5 minutes. We walked over to the bar where we were offered free drinks by the bar manager! Have we died and gone to heaven?! We tried a local blood orange brew and it was so good. The bartender was also very friendly and nice she was busy prepping the bar and chatted with us about the area.

When our room was ready we headed upstairs opened the door and ran around our suite like two kids on Christmas morning. When you walk in you are immediately greeted by the stairs and office area. To the right was our master bedroom complete with living room, huge closets, giant bathroom and jacuzzi tub.

Next we headed up the stairs to the main living area, dining room table and bar. The upstairs also had a bathroom and large outdoor patio. When we walked out on the patio it had a great view of the bay and pool area.

The location of this hotel is PERFECT! Everything is just a quick walk away, including Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. The trail is extra wide and is the super highway for bikers and pedestrians to get to all the great sights in Monterey. There is also a store directly across the street that sells, food, medicine, alcohol, clothes and souvenirs. Starbucks is on the corner too, for all you coffee fans.

The room was very clean and comfortable, including the bed, couches and chairs. We were given plenty of towels but I requested robes and they came so quick.

We ordered food from their restaurant on Friday. We both ordered Cauliflower Buffalo Wings and Doug got a Cheese Pizza. Both menu items were very good quality and taste. We didn't realize we would get so much food... so we completely over ordered... oops!

If I had to add something to the suggestion box, I would say the room could use a decor refresh inside the room and out on the patio.... but that's it!

Overall the staff was top notch, location was perfect, our room was incredible, and the food was really good. I highly recommend staying here if you decide to check out Monterey Bay!
